The University of Texas-Pan American women's tennis team was blanked in seven straight matches to what could possibly be the toughest competition they will face all season in 28th-ranked Texas A&M University on Saturday (Jan. 20) in Bryan, TX, at the Bryan Indoor Courts.

In doubles' action, Megan Bedeau (Scarborough, Ontario, Canada/Northview Heights S.S.) and Stephanie Willerding (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Northview Heights S.S.) started the action Saturday morning when they fell to Anna Blagodarova and Michelle Sammons by a score of 8-1 playing in the number-two spot on the lineup. Newcomers Giana Oliveira (Santa Anna, Brazil/Eckerd College) and Julia Cirne-Lima (Porto Alegre, Brazil/Eckerd College) dropped their doubles' match to Tiffany Clifford and Sarah Foster playing in the number-one position also by a score of 8-1. The duo of Silke Buksik (Waiblingen, Germany/Salier-Gymnasium Waiblingen) and Nicole Garcia (Cibolo, TX/Lee College) also shared the same fate as their teammates as they were defeated by Marisa Druss and Elze Potgieter by an identical 8-1 score.

In singles' play, A&M's Blagodarova defeated Oliveira (6-0, 6-1) playing in the number-one spot in the lineup while Garcia fell to Nicki Mechem (6-0, 6-0) in number-five singles.

Bedeau dropped her match against Clifford (6-0, 6-2) while Willerding fell to Foster (6-0, 6-1) as did Sarah Burton (Oakville, Ontario, Canada/Oakville Trafalgar H.S.) in her match against Sammons (6-0, 6-1). Cirne-Lima faced perhaps the toughest match-up against 50th-ranked Potgieter, and suffered an early setback (6-1, 6-2).

The Lady Broncs take to the court again on Friday (Jan. 26) when they head to El Paso, TX, to square-off against the University of Texas-El Paso in a rematch of play that took place late in October in which the Lady Broncs picked up four singles' victories over the Miners.
