Broncs Fall on Road to Tulsa

It was a game that the Broncs wish they could of seen gone differently, as Tulsa University cruised to a 90-61 victory over the Broncs at the Donald W. Reynolds Center in Tulsa, OK.

The Broncs fell to 6-6 on the season while the Golden Hurricane improved to 4-4 overall.

A three-pointer, a lay-up and a dunk by Jerome Davis said it all for the Broncs in the opening minutes of the game as the Golden Hurricane took a 7-0 advantage at the 15:56 mark.

Nathan Hawkins put the Broncs on the board with a pair of free throws with 14:19 remaining in the game, making the score 7-2. The Broncs had trouble finding the bottom of the net and found themselves in a 18 point deficit heading into the locker rooms by a 43-25 count.

The Broncs struggled during the first half, as they connected on 42.3 percent (11-of-26) compared to the Golden Hurricane 61.3 (19-of-31) percent from the field.

Tulsa opened the second half on fire as they took total control of the game and led by as many as 37 at the 2:19 mark, making the score 87-50.

For the game, the Broncs shot 44.2 percent (23-of-52) from the floor to the Golden Hurricane dominating 65.5 percent (38-of-58) from the field. Tulsa controlled the glass as they were able to grab 34 rebounds to the Broncs 20 boards.

Five Golden Hurricane's finished in double-figures, including Brett McDade, who finished with a team-high 14 points to go along with two rebounds and five assists.

Hawkins collected a career-high 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe to go along with four rebounds in 32 minutes of play.

The Broncs continue their 10 game road trip with the start of the Las Vegas Classic where they will first match-up against Missouri State in Springfield, MO on Monday (Dec.17) with game time slated for 7 p.m.
