Despite recording just four hits, the Panthers were able to capitalize on a trio of Bronc errors to improve to 25-17 on the season while UTPA falls to 15-28.

In the top of the third inning Prairie View scored two runs courtesy of a pair of Bronc miscues. Brandon Kendricks reached base after being hit by a pitch then scored on a fielding error by UTPA shortstop Jeremy Johnson (League City, TX/Alvin J.C.). Brandon Whitby also scored on the error to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. <>

UTPA was able to get on the board when Abraham Garcia (McAllen, TX/McAllen Memorial H.S.) was able to move into scoring position when he hit a double to centerfield, and then advanced home when Johnson blasted a base hit RBI to centerfield with two outs on the board to make it a 2-1 game.

The Broncs scored another run with two outs on the board in the bottom half of the seventh inning when Roly Gonzalez (Miami, FL/UNC-Greensboro) stole his second base of the game and team-leading 16th of the season to move into scoring position before Osiel Flores (Mission, TX/UT-Brownsville) hit an RBI double to deep right center, tying the game at two runs apiece.

With two outs and the bases loaded, Panther shortstop Michael Richard hit a bouncer to first base that was misplayed by Lyndon Bartosh (Bay City, TX/Navarro J.C) that drove in Odie Davis for the game-winning run with the score at 3-2.

Panther relief pitcher Dominick Herrell earned the win, improving to 1-0 on the season while UTPA hurler Ray Silva (Clearlake, CA/Santa Ana J.C.) got the loss.

The Broncs return to action when they travel to San Antonio, TX, to take-on the University of Texas at San Antonio at Roadrunner Field on Tuesday (Apr. 17) with the game scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
