The University of Texas-Pan American women's tennis team finished the week with a 1-1 record after recording a 7-0 victory over Prairie View A&M and dropping a 6-1 decision to 75th Rice University this weekend.
The Lady Broncs made their first stop in Prairie View, TX where they collected their ninth win of the season. With the win, the Lady Broncs improved to 9-6 overall.
Doubles' action started off the day with the Lady Broncs taking all three matches. Giana Oliveira and Luisa Cantu handed Melanie Brown and Samantha Cantu an 8-4 setback in the top flight while tandem Silke Buksik and Megan Bedeau collected a 8-3 win over Melissa Guerrier and Jessica Aguilar in the number-two flight.
Recording the final match in doubles' action was Julia Cirne-Lima and Stephanie Willerding with a 8-6 victory against Antionette Majors and Kori Linzie.
The Lady Broncs continued to dominate their opponent as they sweep all six matches in singles' action.
Oliveira took a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Brown in the number-one spot of the rotation while Cirne-Lima handed Cantu a 6-1, 6-3 setback in the number-two lineup spot.
Willerding recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win over Guerrier in the number-three spot of the rotation while Bedeau picked up a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Aguilar in the fourth flight.
Buksik handed Majors a 6-2, 6-2 setback in the number-five lineup spot while Cantu collected a easy 6-0, 6-0 win against Traci Quan in the sixth flight.
With the win, the Lady Broncs have matched their win total from a season ago and their road record.
Following the match-up with the Panthers, the Lady Broncs faced-off against 75th Rice University where they dropped a 6-1 decision.
In doubles' action, Oliveira and Cirne-Lima fell to Dominique Karas 8-4 in the top flight while Silke Buksik and Megan Bedeau recorded a hard-fought 8-4 decision to Tiffany Lee and Rebecca Lin in the number-two spot of the rotation.
Buksik and Bedeau continue to have the hot hand in doubles' this season as they are currently 12-3 on the season.
Stephanie Willerding and Luisa Cantu suffered a 8-3 setback over Emily Braid and Varsha Shiva-Shankar in the third flight.
In singles' action, the Lady Broncs dropped five matches while senior captain Buksik recorded the only victory for her squad.
Oliveira fell to Chao by scores of 6-1, 6-3 in the number-one spot of the rotation while Karas handed Cirne-Lima a 6-4, 6-4 setback.
Willerding suffered a 6-4, 7-6 setback to Lee in the third flight while Bedeau dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision to Lin in the number-four spot of the rotation.
Buksik handed Braid a 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 setback in the fifth flight while Cantu lost her match to Shiva-Shankar by a final score of 6-2, 6-4 in the number-six spot of the lineup.
Buksik has been on fire in singles' action recording a 13-2 record following her victory against Rice University's Shiva-Shankar.
The Lady Broncs will be at home for several weeks as they welcome eight teams to the Orville Cox Tennis Center. The first match-up will be against UTEP on Friday (Mar. 14) followed by a face-off against Southland opponent-foe UTSA on Sunday (Mar.16).
