It was a long weekend for Lady Broncs tennis but one of success, as they went undefeated on their home floor collecting a 3-0 record.
The Lady Broncs posted victories over Oral Roberts University, University of Texas at El Paso and University of Texas at San Antonio.
With the 5-2 win against UTSA, the Lady Broncs improved their overall record to 12-6 and recorded the second most wins in UTPA women's tennis history.
"Having three matches in three days is really tough but I think the women played really well, I was proud of their efforts and I think this team is a are very special group," said head men's and women's tennis coach Rob Hubbard.
Senior Silke Buksik is on her way to imprinting her name in the record books as she is currently tied for fourth overall with the most wins in singles play for a season and is one doubles victory away from ranking third in school history with teammate Megan Bedeau.
In the top flight, tandem Giana Oliveira and Julia Cirne-Lima started off the day with a 8-4 win over Karen Scide and Caroline Dedering while Bedeau and Buksik dropped a 8-6 decision to Tanya Hasking and Monika Drabkova in the number-two flight.
Stephanie Willerding and Luisa Cantu were the deciding match in collecting the doubles' point and did so with a 8-5 victory against Nathalie Wallin and Holly Phillips in the number-three flight.
The Lady Broncs fought hard in singles' action against the Roadrunners and collected four wins of the six matches.
Oliveira suffered a 6-3, 6-3 setback to Scida in the number-one spot while Cirne-Lima captured a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Wallin.
In the number-three lineup spot, Bedeau recorded a 6-1, 6-4 win over Drabkova while Willerding dropped their match by scores of 6-2, 2-6, 11-9 in the number-four spot of the rotation.
Buksik easily captured her match by scores of 6-2, 6-1 while Cantu handed Silvester a 7-5, 6-0 setback in the number-six spot of the rotation.
The Lady Broncs will look to remain unbeaten at home when they take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday (Mar. 21) at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
