RUSTON, LA--The University of Texas-Pan American men's basketball program dropped an 81-60 decision to Louisiana Tech at the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston, LA this Tuesday evening (Dec.22).

Luis Valera and Ben Smith led the Broncs with 12 points each. Valera pulled down four rebounds and one block shot while Smith added three rebounds and three steals. Nick Weiermiller scored 11 points and five assists with Matt Mierzycki adding 10 points, five rebounds and two assists to round out the Broncs leading scorers.

For Louisiana Tech, Kyle Gibson and Magnum Rolle each scored a game high 16 points. Rolle added four rebounds and six block shots with teammate Gibson adding five rebounds and five assists. DeAndre Brown scored 14 points, four rebounds and four assists.

From the field, the Broncs shot 38.1%, while Louisiana Tech was 54.7% from the field. From beyond the arc, the Broncs shot 35.0% (7-20), while Louisiana Tech hit on 42.1% of their attempts.

The Broncs return to action as they host Northern Arizona on December 28, at the UTPA Fieldhouse. Game time is slated for 2:00 pm.
