The University of Texas-Pan American women's tennis program received a 5-2 upset from Texas State this Saturday (Feb. 14) afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

UTPA's only two points came from Luisa Cantu in the number-two spot of the rotation as Cantu defeated Nyssa Peele, 7-6, 6-2. Megan Bedeau, in the number-three spot, defeated Lainy Chafitz in a third set super tiebreaker 7-6, 6-7, 10-4.

Stephanie Willerding dropped her match to Ashley Ellis, 0-6, 1-6 in the top spot of the rotation. Kiki Kruse defeated Andrea Salvetova, 6-2, 6-2 in the number-four spot of the lineup. Malin Andersen was defeated by Mackenzie Farmer, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 in the number-five spot of the rotation with teammate Sarah Burton dropping her match, 6-2, 6-4 to Jennifer Nowland.

The Lady Broncs dropped all three doubles as well as Willerding and Cantu dropped their match to Lainy and Andrea Giraldo, 8-4 in the top spot. In the number-two spot, Salvetova and Malin Andersen were defeated by Ellis and Peele, 8-6. In the final spot of the rotation, Bedeau and Burton lost 8-1 to Farmer and Kruse.

The Lady Broncs will head to San Antonio as they face UTSA this Sunday (Feb. 15) at the UTSA Tennis Center with match-time slated for 1:00 p.m.
