MEN'S TENNIS FALLS IN TIGHT ROAD MATCH WITH LAMAR

BEAUMONT, Texas - The University of Texas-Pan American men's tennis team dropped their first Southland Conference match of the spring season on Saturday, falling to Lamar University by a finaly tally of 4-3 at the Thompson Family Tennis Center. 

The Broncs (1-7, 1-1) fought hard for their three points as they took two singles matches and swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. However, the Broncs lost singles matches three through six to fall a point shy of the win. Aswin Vijayaragavan and Beau Bernstein won their singles matches to pick up points for UTPA. Vijayaragavan knocked off Lamar's Deni Ermilov 6-4, 7-5.

Bernstein and the Cardinal's Robert Lee had an extended three set battle. Bernstein battled in come back fashion winning the match with a final tally of 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

Bernstein and Vijayaragavan led the Broncs doubles team with an 8-3 victory over Lamar's Denis Ermilov and Dusan Savkovic.

Lamar (7-8, 1-1) earned straight set victories in the final four singles matches to clinch the one point victory.

The Broncs won't waste any time as their next match comes Sunday morning at Louisiana-Lafayette with a 10:00 AM match start time.
