2008-09 Season [Sophomore]
In his second season as a Bronc, Vijayaragavan was ranked 10th in the South Central Region during the preseason and 60th in the nation...captured 12 victories, including four wins in doubles play - all victories were at the No. 1 position...notched his first win of the season in a third set super tiebreaker against Victor Kolik of No. 13 Tulsa in a 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 fashion...handed Southeastern Louisiana[apos]s Stepan Siska a 6-1, 6-4 loss en route to a 5-2 team victory - a feat which hadn[apos]t been accomplished since 2002...after posting back-to-back unfinished matches at a tournament, the India native returned and captured back-to-back Southland Conference wins with a quick 6-3, 6-1 victory over Dmitry Novikov (TAMUCC, 3/22) and a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Mindaugas Celedinas (UTA, 3/29)...earned his first conference win of the season against A&M-Corpus Christi[apos]s Mikhail Pavlov (2/13) with a 7-5, ret. victory...ended the regular season with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Lamar[apos]s (4/11) Maciej Bogusz...picked up his first doubles win against Idaho University[apos]s (2/22) Artem Kuznetsov and Alexandru Joitoiu with partner Nirvick Mohinta...every doubles match won, Vijayaragavan won his singles match as well (Idaho University, Southeastern LA, TAMUCC, and Lamar)...named Southland Conference Player of the Year...selected to the 2009 Southland Conference Men[apos]s Tennis All-Academic Team.
2007-08 Season [Freshman]
Vijayaragavan finished season with 15 victories, including 6 wins in doubles[apos] competition during the 2007-08 season... recorded majority of his success in singles[apos] action... posted a 6-8 record in doubles with Brett Bernstein... captured three consecutive wins with Bernstein against Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, and Southern University... handed Clemons Geercken and Denis Troyke of Oral Roberts University an 8-4 victory at the number-two doubles[apos] position... defeated Centenary College doubles[apos] team Mark Rodgmean and Jacob Dawson by an 8-1 count...defeated University of Texas-Arlington double[apos]s team Nishant Hari and Brieuc Bogusz by an 8-3 count... paired up with Shashane Vij to defeat Santa Clara University doubles[apos] team Senthill Chidambaram and Charlie Burke by an 8-4 count.... Won five consecutive matches in singles[apos] competition at the number-two position defeating opponents from University of Texas-Arlington, Lamar University, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Oral Roberts, and University of San Francisco... clinched a three-set victory over Rainer Nachbauer of University of San Francisco playing in the number-two position.
Prep Career
Vijayaragavan finished his prep career where he won an ITF doubles tournament... collected four semi-final victories in singles[apos] action... recorded a in over a player ranked 88th in the IFT world rankings... competed in several ATP Futures Tournaments.
Off the Court
Vijayaragavan is the son of Viji and Subhashini Vijayaragavan... was born on June 22, 1989... has one brother... father played basketball and represented his country in the Olympics... majoring in business management.
