EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas Pan-American baseball team suffered losses of 6-0 and 7-5 at the hands of the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

In game one, the Islanders got the scoring started in the top of the third inning against Jonathan Delgado. After back-to-back walks to Chris Vergne and Bobby Buckner, Trey Hernandez hit an RBI single to left field that allowed Vergne to score making it 1-0. Jacob Perales then hit a two-out RBI single that allowed Buckner to score to make it 2-0 TAMUCC. With runners at second and third, Jumpy Garcia hit a two-run single to left field driving in Hernandez and Perales making it 4-0.

TAMUCC added to their lead in the top of the eighth against Jon Sa. Jumpy Garcia got the inning started with a single to left and then moved to second on a single by Weston Montgomery. One out later, Dan Sciantarelli hit an RBI single that allowed pinch-runner Hayden Moore to score to make it 5-0 Islanders. Buckner then followed with an RBI single to right field that allowed Montgomery to score extending the Islanders lead to 6-0.

Phillip Garcia pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the ball game giving the Islanders the 6-0 victory.

Delgado (1-2) got the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in three innings of work. Ian Campbell (2-1) picked up the win after pitching six scoreless innings and striking out five.

In game two, the Islanders got the scoring started in the first inning. Trey Hernandez hit an RBI single that allowed Bobby Buckner to score from third. Hernandez then moved to third after a Matt Holland singled and then came into score on an RBI single by Jacob Perales. TAMUCC added another after Perales got in a rundown that allowed Holland to score making it 3-0.

The Broncs tied things up in the bottom of the sixth inning against Sean Hoelscher. Angel Ibanez led the inning off with a single and then moved to third on a stolen base and a throwing error. Roger Bernal then reached on a fielding error and that allowed Ibanez to score from third. Colten Van Komen followed with a single and then moved up on a passed ball. Vincent Mejia delivered a two-run single that allowed Bernal and pinch-runner Andy Fortuna to score tying the game at three.

Stuart MacInnes started the bottom of the seventh inning with a walk and after moving to second on a sacrifice bunt, he came into score on an RBI single by Iradier Hernandez giving the Broncs the 4-3 lead.

The Islanders responded in the top of the eighth against Kyle Kotchie (0-1). With the bases loaded Sean Washington hit a two-run single to left field allowing Hayden Moore and Jumpy Garcia to score. Bobby Buckner then followed with an RBI double that drove in Washington from second giving the Islanders the 6-4 lead.

UTPA cut the lead to one after Bernal came into score on passed ball that made it 6-5.

After the Islanders added another run in the top of the ninth with a bases loaded walk to make it 7-5, Michael Boyle retired the side in the bottom of the ninth giving TAMUCC the 7-5 victory.

Roy Ferdin got the victory after pitching the eighth inning and allowing one run. Boyle pitched an inning and two-thirds for his fourth save of the season.
Next up for Broncs is a road double-header at Lamar University on March 16th. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
