AUSTIN, Texas- The University of Texas Pan American baseball team will travel to Austin to face off against Big 12 power house and the nation's fourth-ranked program the University of Texas Longhorns Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The Broncs (16-12, 6-2 GWC) are coming off of a series split with New Jersey Institute of Technology where the Broncs won the first two games of the series.
Jonathan Delgado pitched eight innings in the finale striking out a season high nine batters.
Mike McCarthy leads a Broncs offense that has seven players batting over .300. At the plate, McCarthy has raised his batting average to .351during his nine-game hit streak. He also leads the team in RBIs with 28.
The Broncs' pitching staff is led by sophomore right-hander
Luis Flores (1-2) who has a 2.62 ERA.
This will mark the 48th meeting between these two teams. The Longhorns lead the all-time series with a record of 7-40.
Texas is coming off of a 3-1 victory over Texas Tech Sunday afternoon.
Eric Weiss leads the Longhorns (27-9, 11-4 Big 12) at the plate with a .381 batting average and is also tied for the team lead in RBIs with 23. The Longhorns have a team ERA of 2.33 and are led by Taylor Jungmann, who is 8-0 on the season with a 1.11 ERA.
Kyle Kotchie (1-2, 6.48 ERA) will face Austin Dicharry (NR, First Start) with the first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
