FULLERTON, California – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team (0-1) kicks off a two-game west coast swing when they visit the California State University Fullerton Titans (2-3) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Titan Courts.
The Series
This is the first ever meeting between the Broncs and the Titans.
The Broncs have played California teams in the past, including the University of San Francisco (0-2), San Francisco State University (1-0) and Santa Clara (1-0), giving the Broncs an all-time record of 2-2 against California teams.
Scouting the Titans
The Titans are coming off of a 6-1 victory over CSU Bakersfield on Thursday at the Titan Courts.
Tiffany Mai and
Morgan McIntosh won the #1 doubles set 8-0 and their individual singles matches in straight sets. The team of
Monica Rodriguez and
Kalika Slevcove won 8-3 in doubles before winning their singles matches in straight sets.
Jessica Pepa won her match in the #6 spot in singles 6-1, 6-0.
California Dreaming
The trip to California is marks a return for senior
Dana Nazarova, who attended American River College as a freshman and Sacramento State University as a sophomore. Both schools are located in Sacramento, 410 miles north of Fullerton. Sacramento is 278 miles north of Bakersfield, where the Broncs play on Saturday.
Broncs head coach
Stephanie Vallejos is from California, having grown up in Benecia, 404 miles north of Fullerton and 280 miles north of Bakersfield.
