Men's Tennis Completes Road Trip Wednesday at Prairie View A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team (6-5) completes this stretch of seven matches in seven days with their final road match of the regular season when they visit Prairie View A&M University (4-7) on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.

The Series
 
The Broncs are 9-0 all-time against the Panthers in a series that dates back to 1986. The Broncs and Panthers last met on February 9, a 7-0 victory for the Broncs.

Last Time Out
 
The Broncs are coming off of a 4-3 victory over Southland Conference opoonent Nicholls State University on Tuesday.
 
After the Colonels (5-6, 1-1 SLC) won doubles matches in the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, the two teams moved onto singles.
 
The Broncs (6-5-1, 1-1 SLC) picked up hard-fought wins in the No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 positions. Beau Bernstein took his match against Damjan Despotovski in the No. 1 spot 7-5, 6-2 while Victor Alves won 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 6 spot against Sidharth Sivakumar. It took the Broncs three sets to clinch the other two victories, with Ricardo Hopker beating Shayann Vaezzadeh 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot and Rolf Niederstrasser beating Palash Tiwari 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot.
 
The Broncs complete this stretch of seven matches in seven days with their final road match of the regular season when they visit Prairie View A&M on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. In their first meeting, the Broncs won 7-0 on February 9.
 
Scouting the Panthers
 
The Panthers are 4-7 and winners of four-straight after a strong showing in the SWAC Round-Up. They beat Mississippi Valley State, Jackson State, Alabama State and Alabama A&M on February 24 and 25. The Panthers haven't played since then.
 
The Panthers are 0-5 at home this season.

The Broncs have a Rio Grande Valley-native on the squad. Freshman Shane Kyral is from Harlingen and was part of a Harlingen South High School team that was ranked #6 in the state, finishing as the regional runner up in the 5A school division.
