HOUSTON, Texas -- The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team (11-19, 5-4 Great West Conference) can clinch a top-three finish and a berth in the semifinals of the Great West Conference Tournament with a win over the Houston Baptist University Huskies (9-19, 2-7 GWC) on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
UTPA Men's Basketball Dismisses Jefferson, Suspends Cleveland
The University of Texas-Pan American Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Saturday that men's basketball junior forward
Earl Jefferson has been dismissed from the team for violating the department code of conduct and team policy as well as for conduct detrimental to the team.
Additionally, sophomore forward
Josh Cleveland has been suspended indefinitely from game competition for violating the department code of conduct and team policy.
The UTPA Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will have no further comment.

First Round Bye At Stake: If the Broncs win tonight's game, they will assure themselves of a top-three finish in the Great West Conference standings and clinch a berth in the semifinals. The #4 and #5 seeds will play in the first round, with the winner of that facing the #1 seed while the #2 and #3 seeds also face each other in the semifinals. If the Broncs win and North Dakota loses to Utah Valley, the Broncs will be the #2 seed. If the Broncs and North Dakota both win, the Broncs will be the #3 seed.
