EDINBURG, Texas -- The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team (16-7, 4-0 Great West Conference) resume conference play against the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux (2-20, 0-4 GWC) with game one of a four-game series on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased in person at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium box office starting at 6:00 p.m.

What You Need to Know
  • This is the 10th meeting all-time between the Broncs and Fighting Sioux in a series dating back to 1966. The Broncs are 4-5 in that time, including a 3-5 record in Great West Conference play.
  • The Broncs need to win the first three games of this seies to get off to their best-ever start in Great West Conferece play. The Broncs are 4-0 and went 6-0 last season.
  • Roger Bernal, who had led the NCAA in hitting since March 26, is now in a virtual tie for first with a .465 batting average, .00026582 back of LSU's Ralph Rhymes for the top spot among individuals. Bernal is on a 14-game hitting streak and has hits in 23-of-24 games. During the streak, he's hitting .464 (26-for-56).

Broncs vs. UTSA Roadrunners (4/10/12)
  • For the second time in 16 occurences this season, the Broncs lost a game when leading after seven innings as the Roadrunners scored one in the eighth and four in the ninth to beat the Broncs 7-3.
  • The loss snapped the Broncs' 13-game home winning streak and marked their first home loss of the season (13-1).
  • Michael Zouzalik pitched five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits, none of which came in the final 4.2 innings, while striking out three and walking two.
  • For the second time this season, both Michael and Zach Zouzalik pitched in the same game, with Zach relieving Michael in the sixth inning. On February 21, Zach pitched the fourth inning and Michael the fifth against UT-Brownsville.
  • The Broncs loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but Roger Bernal popped out and Chris Torres grounded out to end the game.
