2012 (Senior): Finished the season with a .414 batting average, making him the fifth Bronc to ever finish a season with an average of .400 or better. Bernal is the second to do it under head coach Manny Mantrana, with Garrett Blvone hitting .428 in 2010. Bernal’s mark is the fourth highest average in a single season in program history … Had hits in 46-of-52 games (88.5%), including 30 multi-hit games. He had 19 two-hit games, nine three-hits games and three four-hit games … Scored three runs in opening game of Great West Conference Tournament vs. Chicago State (5/22) … Started at first base and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored while making season debut on the mound, pitching a perfect inning with one strikeout to end his final home game against Houston Baptist (5/19) … Recorded first multi-double game of the season and second of career while going 3-for-4 with two RBI vs. Houston Baptist (5/18) … Went 9-for-17 (.529) in four game series at Chicago State (4/27-28) … Tied career-high with four hits while scoring two runs and driving in two against North Dakota (4/15) … Drew career-high tying two walks vs. North Dakota (4/14) … Went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk to raise NCAA-leading average to .494 at No. 18 Texas (3/28) … Recorded seventh game of three or more hits by going 3-for-6 with a double and two RBI at UTSA (3/27) … Went 3-for-5 with two runs scored at New Mexico State (3/24) … Hit first home run of season and third of career, a three-run shot, at New Mexico State (3/23) … Went 2-for-5 with a double, career-high tying three RBI and two runs scored while moving his batting average to .500 to lead the NCAA in game two of a doubleheader vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3/20) … Tied career-highs in hits, triples and RBI by going 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, three RBI and two runs scored in game one of doubleheader vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3/20) … Went 3-for-5 with a double and career-high three RBI vs. Arlington Baptist (3/2) … Drove in game tying run in ninth inning of game two of doubleheader vs. Southern Utah (2/26) … Tied career-high with four hits while scoring career-high four runs in come from behind win over Southern Utah in game one of doubleheader (2/26) … Went 3-for-4, accounting for half of the Broncs’ hits and their only run in a win over Southern Utah (2/24).

2011 (Junior): Recorded a hit in 40-of-52 games ... led the Broncs with 21 multi-hit games ... had eight multi-RBI games … longest hitting streak was seven games ...  recorded season-high four hits against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4/12) and again against North Dakota (5/19) ... Ranked second on the team in stolen bases (7), third in batting average (.343), runs scored (37) and hits (68), fourth in slugging percentage (.429) and total bases (85), and fifth in on base percentage (.382), RBI (25), and doubles (9) ... Made three relief appearances, recording one save while striking out three in 2.2 innings.

2009-10 (Grayson Junior College): Batted .380 with nine doubles, two triples, 55 RBI and 41 run scored in 50 games as a sophomore … pitched eight innings, striking out 13 while allowing three runs on four hits for a 1.12 ERA.

2005-08 (G.W. Brackenridge High School): Earned four letters for baseball … all-state honorable mention as a senior … played in Valley Hi Optimist All Star Baseball Game … member of Student Council.
