EDINBURG, Texas -- The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team (17-7, 5-0 Great West Conference) hosts the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux (2-21, 0-5 GWC) in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Game one is scheduled to last seven innings while game two is scheduled to go the full nine. Gates open at 12:00.

What You Need to Know

  • This is the 11th meeting all-time between the Broncs and Fighting Sioux in a series dating back to 1966. The Broncs are 5-5 in that time, including a 4-5 record in Great West Conference play. 
  • The Broncs need to sweep today's doubleheader to get off to their best-ever start in Great West Conferece play. The Broncs are currently 5-0 after going 6-0 last season.
  • Roger Bernal is fourth in the NCAA in hitting with a .452 batting average. This marks the first game day since March 25 that Bernal is not the either first or tied for first. He is, however, on a 15-game hitting streak and has hits in 24-of-25 games. During the streak, Bernal is hitting .443 (27-for-61).
  • Angel Ibanez is currently on a 13-game hitting streak. He's hitting .392 (20-for-51) during that time.

  • The Broncs used a 10-run seventh inning to come from behind to beat the Fighting Sioux 14-8.
  • The Broncs sent nine batters to the plate and scored seven runs and six hits and three walks during the seventh inning before recording an out. In total, 14 batters came to the plate as the Broncs got 10 runs (nine earned) on eight hits, three walks, a sacrifice fly and a passed ball. It was the Broncs' biggest inning of the season.
