EDINBURG, Texas – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team (7-7, 1-1 SLC) takes on Southland Conference opponent Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (8-9, 1-0 SLC) on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.

The Broncs are in a stretch of five-straight home games to close the season after playing in 13-straight matches away from home to open it.
The Series
This is the 49
th meeting all-time between the Broncs and the Islanders in a series dating back to 1961. The Broncs have 13 wins in that time, with the most recent one coming in 2010, 4-3 in Corpus Christi.
Last season, they played in Corpus Christi, and the 75
th ranked Islanders beat the Broncs 6-1.
Beau Bernstein recorded the Broncs' lone point, winning his singles match over
James Langford in the No. 2 position, 6-4, 6-2. Bernstein also won his doubles match with
Aswin Vijayaragavan, 8-6 over
Laurent Montoisy and
Gergo Weidinger.
Last Time Out
The Broncs are coming off of a 6-1 loss to Laredo Community College, the second-ranked team nationally among junior colleges, on Sunday at home.
Playing in the No. 1 singles position, Bernstein dominated the first set against
Jair Assuncão Neto, winning 6-0. In the second set, Bernstein found himself down 2-1 before winning five-straight games to close out the match and get the point. Bernstein also won his doubles match, along with
Chetan Panditi, 8-2 in the No. 1 position, but the Broncs (7-7) dropped the other two doubles matches and five singles matches.
Scouting the Islanders
The Islanders are 28-1 in Southland Conference play since 2008. They have won 11-straight conference matches, including their conference opener, 4-3 over UT-Arlington on March 28. The Islanders' lone loss in that time was to the Broncs in 2010.
The Islanders are .500 in singles, going 42-42 with winning records in the No. 2 (7-4) No. 5 (10-4) and No. 6 (8-6) positions.
Peter Nagy has seen the majority of the competition in the No. 1 position, going 6-7.
Aurelien Tave is 1-1 at No. 1 and 7-2 at No. 2.

The Broncs have a Rio Grande Valley-native on the squad. Freshman
Shane Kyral is from Harlingen and was part of a Harlingen South High School team that was ranked #6 in the state, finishing as the regional runner up in the 5A school division.
