Javorn Farrell led the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team with 22 points during a 66-60 loss to the IPFW Mastodons on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina Islanders Basketball Tournament, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, at the American Bank Center.
Farrell tied his career-highs in field goals made and attempted by going 9-for-16 from the field with six rebounds and two steals. Sophomore

Christian Hildebrandt scored a career-high eight points while going 6-for-7 from the foul line.

Joe Reed recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Mastodons led for nearly 31 minutes to start the game, going up as many as nine on three occasions, including 41-32 on a Jacobo jumper with 13:52 remaining. That's when the Broncs (2-3) made their move, as a Farrell jumper 27 seconds later sparked a 13-3 run that saw the Broncs go up 45-44 on a Hines three-point play with 9:10 left.
Steve Forbes immediately responded with a layup to put the Mastodons back on top, but the Broncs came back to tie it three times, at 49-49 and 51-51 on two pairs of free throws by Hildebrant, and 53-53 on a layup by Boga.
The Mastodons pushed their lead back out to six at 61-55 on a
Pierre Bland free throw with 1:47 to go. The Broncs got within 62-60 on a Farrell three 16 seconds later, but that's as close as they got.
The Broncs conclude the tournament when they face host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
