DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference and Commissioner Jeff Hurd announced Thursday the official launch of the WAC Digital Network. The WAC Digital Network combines live and archived content from the WAC and its eight member institutions to provide coverage of events and student-athletes anywhere in the world.
"The WAC Digital Network will provide unprecedented online exposure of the WAC's institutions and provide fans access to high quality broadcasts all over the world," said Hurd. "We are truly excited to be a part of creating a 21st century solution to showcase the amazing student-athletes competing at a high level in many different sports."
The WAC Digital Network was designed by both VISTA Worldlink and Piksel to create a new viewing experience for WAC fans to enjoy all of the live games and other content throughout the season. It allows the WAC to significantly increase the amount of men's and women's sporting events available for broadcast. WAC competition will be consistently available via any Internet connected device and will include both regular season and WAC Championship events.
Original content and both live and on-demand events will be available online via computers, smartphones and tablets while even more features will be added in the coming weeks. The network will produce approximately 275 live events annually including basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball and softball games. There will also be Games of the Week and WAC Championship events throughout the season that will have even higher production standards to enhance the viewers' experience even more.
The content is passed through VISTA Worldlink to establish a high quality feed that is then sent to Piksel's Online Video Platform where fans can view hundreds of events and videos. Piksel was also instrumental in creating new production standards and providing equipment to the WAC's schools to achieve these broadcast quality events.
WAC Executive Producer Robby Gabrielli coordinates all of the WAC's studio productions and schedules the WAC Digital Network's live events.
"We are pleased to provide such a high level streaming experience for our fans and student-athletes," said Gabrielli. "Along with Piksel, VISTA and our member schools, we are committed to continually enhancing our production and programming on the WAC Digital Network."
The WAC Digital Network can be viewed on any Internet connected device by going to
