Women's Tennis to Take On Bobcats Saturday

SAN MARCOS – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis continues on the road as they face the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
 
Last Time Out
The Broncs are coming off of a 0-6 loss to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders.
 
After wet conditions forced the match indoors, the Broncs dropped all six singles matches but did force three sets in three of their matches.
 
Senior Wanda Beguelin started her match with a 6-2 win in the first set but then dropped the next two sets to Celia Rodriguez 6-1, 6-2.
 
Sophomore Didi Fatchikova started her match at No. 1 singles against Stefania Nicolae with a 6-4 win in the first set but then dropped the second set in the tiebreaker 7-6 (7-3) before falling 6-0 in the third.
 
Freshman Katia Stavroulaki also opened her match in No. 3 singles with a win in the first set after taking it 6-3 from Sandra Burges but Stavroulaki then dropped the next two sets to give the point to the Islanders.

Scouting the Bobcats
The Bobcats are led by No. 16 ranked Jessica Kahts who has a 3-1 record after winning her last three matches. She also teams with Ana Gutierrez in No. 1 doubles posting a 3-1 doubles record.
 
Eva Dench enters Saturday's match undefeated in both singles and doubles this season. All of her matches have come in the No. 6 singles spot.
 
The Bobcats have a 2-2 record this season and they are coming off a 5-2 victory over UTEP on Feb. 1 and a 7-0 win against Louisiana-Lafayette on Feb. 8.

The Series
The Broncs are 3-20 all-time against the Bobcats in a series that dates back to 1986. Both teams faced each other last season as the Bobcats defeated the Broncs 7-0 in San Marcos.
 
The last win for the Broncs came back in 2008 when the Broncs took the 5-2 victory on Feb. 16, 208.

Globetrotters
The Broncs currently have 10 student-athletes on the roster representing eight different countries including Bulgaria, Canada, England, France, Greece, Mexico, Slovakia and the United States.
 
Next Up
The Broncs continue their road trip as they head to San Antonio to face the University of the Incarnate Word on Sunday at 10 a.m.
