EDINBURG – Senior Wanda Beguelin earned her 44^th career singles victory as she led the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs to a 5-2 victory over the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals on Friday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
Beguelin defeated Incarnate Word's Sarah Savedra 4-6, 7-6, 10-3 at No. 2 singles. With the win, she ranks seventh in program history in singles victories.
 
Christel Amsallem got singles started for the Broncs (13-6) with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Brianah Creek at the No. 6 spot. The win for Amsallem is her seventh straight win. Reegan Greenwood defeated Andi Botha 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Katia Stavroulaki followed with a 6-0, 6-3 over Jennifer Betancourt at No. 3 singles.
 
The Cardinals (3-10) got their points with wins at No. 1 and 5 singles positions.
 
The Broncs took the early lead in doubles as the team of Greenwood and Stavroulaki defeated the team of Botha and Ivana Katavic 8-3 at No. 3 doubles. Didi Fatchikova and Mariana Ranzahuer then beat Kelsey Reblin and Taryn Strahl 8-2 at No. 3 doubles giving the point to the Broncs.
 
The Broncs will be back in action on April 25 at the Western Athletic Conference Championship in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
