Women's Tennis Continues Road Trip at Grambling State on Friday

GRAMBLING, Louisiana – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis faces the Grambling State University Tigers on Friday at the Ruston Parks and Recreation Courts at 1 p.m.
 
Last Time Out
The Broncs (8-4) are coming off of a 4-0 win over the Prairie View A&M Panthers on Thursday.
 
The Broncs got the doubles competition started as the team of Reegan Greenwood and Katia Stavroulaki defeated the Panthers' (5-9) team of Sydney Thomas and Christine Gwodog 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Didi Fatchikova and Mariana Ranzahuer clinched the doubles point with an 8-1 win over Erika Bond and Alexandria Young at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles, Stavroulaki defeated Gwodog 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 singles position. Greenwood then beat Bond 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Christel Amsallem clinched the match for the Broncs as she beat Thomas 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
 
The rest of the singles matches went unfinished once the match was decided.
 
Scouting the Tigers
The Tigers competed at the SWAC Round up last weekend and are coming off of a 7-0 loss to Alabama State on March 1.
 
The Tigers went 0-3 through the SWAC Round up as they also lost Southern 7-0 and Jackson State 7-0.
 
The Series
The Broncs are 1-0 all-time against the Tigers in a series that dates back to 2006. The only other time the Broncs and the Tigers faced each other was on Feb. 24, 2006 when the Broncs won by forfeit.  
 
Globetrotters
The Broncs currently have 10 student-athletes on the roster representing eight different countries including Bulgaria, Canada, England, France, Greece, Mexico, Slovakia and the United States.
 
Next Up
The Broncs continue their road trip as they visit Alcorn State on Saturday at 10 a.m.
