Brandon Tierney doubled to knock out Landon. Sophomore Roma alum
Isaac Martinez came in and issued a seven-pitch walk to
Jordan Lee. One out later, a walk loaded the bases and set-up a bases-clearing triple by
Cody Stephens.
Dawson Yates followed with a grounder to short, but the throw to first pulled Garcia off the bag to score Yates. After Gibson walked, senior
Matthew Harrell came in and issued a four-pitch walk to Vaughan before giving up a two-run single to Guilford to cap the eight-run inning with the Islanders up 11-5.
That made a winner of
Tyler Schnuriger (2-1), who pitched three scoreless innings of relief.
Garcia came up with another two-run single in the ninth to finish 2-for-4 with a career-high four RBI. He also walked and was hit by a pitch.
