WACO – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team hits the road to face off against the No. 6 Baylor University Bears on Friday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center at 7 p.m.
Last Time OutThe Broncs picked up their second straight victory after defeating the Sam Houston State University Bearkats 4-3 at the McAdams Tennis Center.

Mariana Ranzahuer defeated the team of Fabienne Gettwart and Bailey VanDyke 6-4 at the No. 3 doubles spot but the Bearkats (0-1) won at the No. 1 and 2 doubles spots to clinch point.
The Broncs (2-1) responded in singles competition. Sophomore
Katia Stavroulaki beat Olivia Battye 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot to get the scoring started. Freshman
Dominique Esparza recorded her first career victory by defeating Gettwart 6-0, 7-6 (3) at the No. 2 spot.
Ranzahuer continued the momentum for the Broncs as she defeated VanDyke 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot. Junior
Reegan Greenwood gave the Broncs the match with a 2-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5 victory over Mila Molanovic at the No. 4 spot. The Bearkats took the matches at the No. 5 and 6 spots to close out the scoring.
The Broncs are back in action on January 30 when they travel to Waco to face off against the No. 9 Baylor University Bears.
Scouting the BearsThe No. 6 Bears enter the weekend with a 2-0 on the season after defeating No. 5 Virginia 6-1 and No. 5 Georgia 4-3. They face the Broncs on the back end of a doubleheader as the Bears will face Pittsburgh University at 3 p.m.
The Bears are led by 49
th ranked Blair Shankle, who is 2-0 singles record in dual match play. Ema Burgic is ranked 72
nd and is also 2-0 on the season and is currently riding a four-match win streak that runs back into the fall season. Both Shankle and Burgic team up in doubles and are also 2-0 on the season.
Kiah Generette, who has played her two matches at the No. 2 spot, is also 2-0 on the season.
The SeriesThe Broncs are 0-3 against Baylor all-time in a series that dates back to 1990. Both of these teams met last season in Waco.
The Broncs opened their 2014 spring dual match season on January 18 against the Bears as they fell 1-6.
Wanda Beguelin picked up the lone point with a win at the No. 4 spot.
GlobetrottersThe Broncs currently have nine student-athletes on the roster representing six different countries including Colombia, England, France, Greece, Mexico and the United States.
Next UpThe Broncs are back in action on February 1 when they host the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas at the Orville Cox Tennis Center at 10 a.m.
