USAFA, Colo. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's soccer team fell to the Air Force Academy Falcons 1-0 on Friday at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
The Vaqueros (4-8-1, 1-4-0 WAC) defense stood strong through the match, led by junior goalkeeper
Leo Castillo (3-8-1, 1-4-0 WAC), who made a career-high tying nine saves.
The lone goal came with just over two minutes left in the match, when, during a flurry of blocked shots and rebounds,
Tucker Bone got the ball to
Tucker Axhoj, who turned around to find a wide open net 10 yards away before sending the ball in by the right post.
The Falcons (5-6-0, 2-2-0 WAC) outshot the Vaqueros 26-2, including 11-0 on goal.
The Vaqueros are back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they visit Missouri-Kansas City.
