KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's soccer team fell to the University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos 3-2 on Sunday at Durwood Stadium.
The Kangaroos (4-6-2, 2-2-1 WAC) netted the game-winner with 13 seconds left when
Wes White connected on a shot from outside and to the right of the box.
The Vaqueros (4-9-1, 1-5-0 WAC) got on the board just under seven minutes into the match on redshirt sophomore
Frederik Frankman's first goal. Junior Hanna alum
Juanito Garcia sent a pass across the box and Frankman finished with a one-timer off a deflection. It was Garcia's second assist.
Then, after
Didrik Rinde and White scored goals in a span of three minutes early in the second half, Garcia added two more points to his ledger by scoring his second goal of the season off a cross from freshman Brownsville Rivera alum
Isidro Martinez, who now has five assists and a team-high nine points.
Junior goalkeeper
Leo Castillo (3-9-1, 1-5-0 WAC) made three saves for the Vaqueros while
Ryan Tome (3-3-1, 2-1-1 WAC) made three saves for the Kangaroos.
The Kangaroos outshot the Vaqueros 14-10, including 6-5 on goal.
The Vaqueros are back in action on Sunday at 6 p.m. when they visit Incarnate Word.
