SAN ANTONIO – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's soccer team fell to the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals 1-0 on Sunday at Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium.
The Vaqueros (4-10-1, 1-6-0 WAC) had their best chance to score with about four minutes left in regulation when redshirt sophomore
Frederik Frankman fired a shot off the crossbar and then got a rebound opportunity that was blocked by the defense.
The Cardinals (8-6-0, 4-4-0 WAC) scored the game-winner in the 58
th minute when
Noah Keats sent a short cross to
O'Neal Moore who headed it over junior goalkeeper
Leo Castillo (3-10-1, 1-6-0 WAC) and into the back of the net. Castillo finished with three saves.
The Cardinals outshot the Vaqueros 13-10, including 4-0 on goal.
The Vaqueros play their final three matches of the regular season at home, starting Friday at 7 p.m. when they host San José State at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex. Gates open at 6.
