KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's soccer team fell to the University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos 2-0 on Friday at Durwood Stadium.
The Kangaroos (11-5-1, 5-2-1 WAC) scored both goals in the first 10 minutes. The scoring started in the fifth minute when
Sydni Young went top shelf from the middle of a scrum inside the box. The play began with a corner kick that was headed toward the goal, but the ball hit off the crossbar and came back out to Young.
The 'Roos scored off of another corner kick four minutes later when the ball came free to the top right corner and
Reighan Childers drilled the ball inside the post to make it 2-0.
Vaqueros (3-11-3, 1-7-0 WAC) goalkeeper and sophomore Harlingen South alum
Erica Gonzalez (2-7-2, 1-4-0 WAC) made seven saves.

Anna Lillig (4-1-0, 4-1-0 WAC) made one save.
The 'Roos outshot the Vaqueros 22-4, including 9-1 on net.
The Vaqueros are back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they visit Chicago State.
