EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team used a 22-5 run midway through the second half to come from behind and beat the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks 83-74 on Tuesday at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.

Dakota Slaughter convereted a four-point play as the Vaqueros (2-3) scored 12-straight points to take the lead.
Trey Kellum scored the next five points to bring the Redhawks (0-4) within two, but Slaughter and fellow graduate student
J.J. Thompson bookended a 12-0 run with layups to push the lead out to 73-61.
The Redhawks scored the next nine points to climb within three, but the Vaqueros scored 10 of the game's final 14 points to seal the victory.
Hines led four Vaqueros in double-figures scoring with a season-high 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting, eight rebounds, a career-high seven assists and a season-high three blocks. Sophomore
Dan Kimasa posted his second-straight double-double with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting with 10 rebounds and one block. Slaughter scored a career-high 17 points with a career-high eight assists and a career-high two steals. Freshman
Antonio Green scored 16 points while hitting four three-pointers to go with five rebounds and three assists.
The Vaqueros shot .561 (32-for-57) from the field, including .621 (18-for-29) in the second half. The Vaqueros also posted an assist-to-turnover ratio of better than 2:1 at 28:13.
Kellum led the Redhawks with 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting and nine rebounds.
Isaiah Jones scored 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting.
Antonius Cleveland scored 12 points with five rebounds.
Marcus Wallace scored 10 points with nine assists.
The Redhawks led by as many as 11 in the first 10 minutes, but Kimasa scored five-straight points to power a 9-0 run that made it 25-23. The game stayed tight from there, with the Vaqueros tying it for the first time at 47 on a Kimasa layup early in the second half.
