SAN MARCOS – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team is set to face off against the Texas State Bobcats on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
 
Last Time Out
The Broncs dropped a neutral site match to the University of Texas Arlington Mavericks 0-7 at the UTSA Tennis Center in San Antonio.
 
The Broncs (3-4) fell behind early in the match as they dropped two doubles matches to the Mavericks (6-2). At the No. 3 position, Lison Le Biavant and Katia Stavroulaki played their match against Jessica Birowski and Augustina Serio tight but fell 4-6.
 
The Mavericks went on to win all six singles matches in straight sets. Stavroulaki played another tight match at the No. 1 position but fell 4-6, 5-7 to Elizabeth Thoms.
 
Scouting the Bobcats
The Bobcats enter Friday's match with a 1-3 record after picking up their first win of the season last weekend against Incarnate Word.
 
Senior Monica Pieratt picked up her first singles dual match victory of the season against Incarnate Word. She enters the match with a 1-2 record. Ana Laura Gutierrez has a 2-2 record while playing at the No. 2 position. Katy Collins has a perfect record of 2-0 in the No. 6 position.
 
Pieratt and Shannon Beckett lead the Bobcats in doubles as they enter Friday's match with a 3-1 record this spring. Collins and Eva Dench have posted a 1-1 record in doubles at the No. 2 spot.
 
The Series
The Broncs are 3-21 all-time against the Bobcats in a series that dates back to 1986. These two teams met last season on February 15 as the Bobcats came away with the 4-3 victory in San Marcos.
 
The Broncs have lost five straight matches to the Bobcats. They last defeated the Bobcats on February 16, 2008 as they picked up the 5-2 victory at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
Globetrotters
The Broncs currently have nine student-athletes on the roster representing six different countries including Colombia, England, France, Greece, Mexico and the United States.
 
Next Up
The Broncs return to the Orville Cox Tennis Center on February 26 when they host the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders at 1:30 p.m.
