FULLERTON, Calif. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's soccer team fell to the Cal State Fullerton Titans 1-0 on Sunday at Titan Stadium.
The lone goal came at 62:32, when
Brandon West got in the middle of a pass at the top of the box, stole the ball, and sent it on the ground to the right of a diving
Leo Castillo (1-4-1) and into the corner of the goal.
Castillo finished with five saves for the Vaqueros (2-4-1).
Titans (4-3-0) goalkeeper
David Elias (4-3-0) didn't face a shot as the Vaqueros were outshot 16-4 overall and 6-0 on goal.
The Vaqueros are back home on Saturday at 7 p.m. to close out non-conference play against Our Lady of the Lake, which is coached by former University of Texas-Pan American soccer player
Shane Hurley, on alumni day at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex. Gates open at 6.
