BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's soccer team beat CSU Bakersfield 2-0 on Friday at The Main Soccer Field.
Sophomore Brownsville alum
Isidro Martinez UTRGV (4-7-2, 2-3-1 WAC) assisted on both goals, marking his first-career multi-assist match.
The game-winner came in the 31
st minute when Martinez sent a free kick to junior
Frederik Frankman, who fired a long shot that bounced into the lower left corner of the goal to make it 1-0.
That was it until the 72
nd minute, when Martinez passed to freshman
Juanito Ramirez, who sent a cross to freshman
Sergio Loredo Jr., who fired low and right for his first-career goal.

Esa Aalto (3-3-1) made two saves for his third shutout.
CSU Bakersfield (4-11-0, 2-5-0 WAC) goalkeeper
Nicolas Clever (4-10-0) made four saves.
UTRGV outshot CSU Bakersfield 9-8, including 6-2 on goal.
UTRGV is back in action on Sunday at 5 p.m. when it visits Seattle U, which is receiving votes in the latest polls.
