PRAIRIE VIEW – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's tennis team posted a 6-1 victory over the Prairie View A&M Panthers on Saturday at the Panthers Tennis Courts.
 
"We switched up the doubles lineup today and we came away with a win in all three matches," Vaqueros head coach Stephanie Wooten-Quijada said. "We came out and played hard and consistent in singles. I am proud of the girls. The hard work we have been putting in so far this spring is paying off."
 
One of the switches the Vaqueros (3-4) made was senior Reegan Greenwood and freshman Tara Donaho teaming up for the first time this season. Greenwood and Donaho came away with the 6-3 victory over Neharika Rama and Stacy Lackey on court one.
 
On court two, sophomore Dominique Esparza and freshman Doris Aleksovska partnered to defeat Trinity Randolph and Timara Maxwell 6-1 and it was the team of sophomore Natacha Minc and Dominique Ibarra who came away with a 6-4 victory over Tatiana Ruhl and Shaddae Findley on court three.
 
In singles, the Vaqueros kept rolling. Greenwood picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over Rama on court one. The victory for Greenwood now gives her 46 career singles victories, which moves her one behind Silke Buksik (2005-08) for sixth on the program's all-time singles victory list.
 
Ibarra defeated Lackey 6-1, 6-2 on court three. Minc picked up a victory after Rudolph retired in the second set. Aleksovska beat Findley 6-2, 6-1 on court five and Donaho defeated Maxwell 6-4, 6-0 on court six.
 
The Panthers got their only point on court two. 
 
The Vaqueros will kick off conference play when they travel to Phoenix for the first Western Athletic Conference Cluster of the season to face New Mexico State on March 18.
