CHICAGO, Ill. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's tennis team closed out Western Athletic Conference play with a come from behind 4-3 win over the Seattle University Redhawks on Saturday at H-F Racquet and Fitness Club.
 
The Redhakws (9-11, 1-3 WAC) jumped out to the early lead as they swept through doubles.

"Seattle U came out and dominated in doubles," Vaqueros head coach Stephanie Wooten-Quijada said. "We picked up our energy in singles and we were able to come up with four wins in singles to win the match. Natacha showed great focus and fight to come back after dropping that first set. I am very proud of our team effort."
 
Freshman Dominique Ibarra got things going for the Vaqueros (7-7, 3-2 WAC) with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Barbara Carey on court four but the Redhawks answered back with a win on court two to regain the lead.
 
After dropping a point on court one to fall behind 1-3, the Vaqueros rattled off three straight victories. Freshman Tara Donaho picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Kristen James on court six and then freshman Doris Aleksovska tied the match with a 7-6, 7-5 win over Sari Kwee on court five.
 
It all came down to court three where sophomore Natacha Minc opened her match against Barbara Carey with a 4-6 loss in the first set. Minc bounced back with a 6-4 win in the second, which forced a third and deciding set as she came away with the 6-2 win to clinch the match.
 
The Vaqueros return home to host the Laredo Community College Palominos in their final home match of the season at the Orville Cox Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
