CHICAGO, Ill. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's tennis team closes out Western Athletic Conference play as they face the Seattle U Redhawks on Saturday at 5:45 p.m. at H-F Racquet and Fitness Club.
Last Time OutThe Vaqueros (6-7, 2-2 WAC) fell to 1-6 to the Grand Canyon University Antelopes on Friday.
Reegan Greenwood moved into a tie for fifth on the all-time singles career win list after defeating Tatum Prudhomme on Friday. With the win, Greenwood now has 50 career singles victories and is one win from going into a tie for fourth place and just four away from third place.
The Antelopes swept through doubles and won on the rest of the singles courts to take the match.
Scouting the RedhawksThe Redhawks are 9-10 and 1-2 in the WAC after picking up their first conference win of the season with a 6-1 win over Chicago State.
Michelle Lui leads the Redhawks with a 12-7 record in the dual match season while playing all of her matches at the No. 1 spot. Kristen James has recorded a 10-6 record while mainly playing at the No. 6 spot and Madison Maloney has added a 9-8 record with most of her matches coming at the No. 3 spot.
Lui and Kelli Woodman lead Seattle U with an 11-4 doubles record with all of their matches coming at the No. 1 spot. Maloney and Barbara Carey have posted a 7-9 record at the No. 2 spot.
The All-Time SeriesThe Vaqueros are 2-2 all-time against the Redhawks in a series that dates back to 2009.
The Vaqueros evened up the all-time series last year with a 5-2 win over the Redhawks in Las Cruces, New Mexico on March 21, 2015.
Climbing the RanksSenior
Reegan Greenwood is currently seventh in program history with 50 career singles wins. She is now tied with Tania Webster (1988-91) for fifth place. Ellen Nelissen (1991-95) tops the all-time list with 67 wins.
