DALLAS – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's tennis wraps up their weekend as they face off against the University of Texas-El Paso Miners on Saturday at 11 p.m. at the SMU Tennis Complex.
Last Time OutThe Vaqueros (9-7, 3-2 WAC) picked up their first win of the weekend after defeating the Dallas Baptist Patriots 6-1.
The Vaqueros got ahead early as they picked the doubles point with a pair of wins.
Reegan Greenwood and
Tara Donaho teamed up for a 6-3 in over Ana Banic and Maria Fernanda de Camillo on court one.
Doris Aleksovska and
Dominique Ibarra clinched the point with a 6-3 win over Bianca Tijerina and Madeline Coffman on court three.
In singles, Greenwood notched her 52nd career singles victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Banic on court one.
Natacha Minc picked up a 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 victory over de Camillo on court three to extend the Vaqueros' lead. Ibarra dropped her first set to Coffman on court four but rebounded with a 6-3, 6-1 wins in the second and third sets.
Aleksovska split her first two sets with Richter on court five but closed out her match in the third set to win 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. Donaho continue the strong play with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Tijerina on court six to close out the scoring for the Vaqueros.
Scouting the MinersThe Miners (9-8, 2-1 C-USA) are coming off of a two-week break after beating Incarnate Word on March 17, falling to Texas State on March 18 and defeating UTSA on March 19.
Vivienne Kulicke leads the Miners with a 12- 3 record while playing all her matches at No. 1. Lois Wagenvoort is second on the team with seven singles victories while mainly playing at No. 2.
In doubles, the Miners have three teams with five wins. Daphne Visscher and Lois Wagenvoort have five wins and have played all but one match at the No. 2 spot. Kulicke and Duda Santos also have five wins while playing all of their matches at No. 1. Raven Bennett and Matilda Tench have also posted a 5-7 record with most of their matches coming at No. 3.
The All-Time SeriesThe Vaqueros are 2-7 against the Miners all-time in a series that dates back to 1993.
These two teams faced off last season as the Miners came away with the 5-2 victory in El Paso.
The last time the Vaqueros came away with a win over the Miners came on March 15, 2008 at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.

Reegan Greenwood is currently fourth in program history with 52 career singles wins. She is now three wins behind Barbara Barrera (1988-90) for third place all-time. Ellen Nelissen (1991-95) tops the all-time list with 67 wins.
