EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros baseball team fell to the Grand Canyon University Antelopes 10-0 in seven innings on Thursday at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.

Antelopes (24-27-1, 12-13 WAC) starter
Cameron Brendel (5-4) pitched a complete game shutout, striking out four while scattering five hits and two walks.
Sophomore
Johnny Gonzalez (5-3) struck out seven in 5.2 innings of work, allowing six runs (five earned) along the way.
Garrison Schwartz drove-in three runs with a single in the first and a two-run single in the fifth while finishing 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Thomas Lerouge led off the first with a double and the third with a single to help the 'Lopes score twice in each frame.
The 'Lopes added four runs (one earned) in the seventh, capped by a
Jared McDonald two-run single, to put the game away.
The Vaqueros and Antelopes play the middle game of this series on Friday at 6 p.m. in a game that will be televised live nationally on American Sports Network and throughout the state of Texas on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel (323). Gates open at 5.
