EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros baseball team fell to the Grand Canyon University Antelopes 10-0 in seven innings on Friday at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.
The Vaqueros (20-28, 9-14 WAC) drew eight walks, led by sophomore McAllen Memorial alum
Manny Loredo, who drew a career-high three walks.
Antelopes (25-27-1, 13-13 WAC) starter

The Vaqueros also threatened in the sixth as a walk by senior

The 'Lopes got all the offense they needed with two outs in the first against sophomore Nikki Rowe alum
Ryan Jackson (3-5).
Zach Malis hit an RBI-double,
Matt Haggerty launched a three-run home run and
Jared McDonald hit an RBI-single to make it 5-0.
The 'Lopes added a run in the third, but pushed the game out of reach in the fifth when

Thomas Lerouge hit RBI-doubles to make it 9-0.
Paul Panaccione completed the scoring with a two-out RBI-single in the seventh.
The Vaqueros and Antelopes close out the regular season on Saturday at 12 p.m. in a game that will be televised live nationally on American Sports Network and throughout the state of Texas on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel (323). The senior class will be honored in a special pregame ceremony starting at 11:30 a.m. Gates open at 11.
Saturday's game is also Aydan's Toy Drive & Birthday Bash to benefit Aydan's Angels, a non-profit organization that collects children's toys to distribute to hospitalized children in the Rio Grande Valley. Fans who donate a new, unwrapped toy at the game will receive free general admission. Additionally, to commemorate what would have been Aydan's ninth birthday, UTRGV Athletics will encourage fans to sing happy birthday at the end of the fourth inning. There will then be free cupcakes for children to enjoy at the picnic area on the west side of the stadium.
Any fans bringing four non-perishable food items to the game will receive a free ticket as part of the Strike Out Hunger Promotion. All donations benefit the Food Bank RGV.
