SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's soccer team closed out the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Tournament with a 1-0 double overtime loss to California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) on Sunday at SDSU Sports Deck.
UTRGV (2-2-1) senior goalkeeper
Leo Castillo (1-1-1) made seven saves over the first 100 minutes to keep CSUF (3-3-0) off the board, but at 101:44,
Alex Heilmann got the ball in the middle of the box and shot into the lower right corner to end the match.
Paul-Andre Guerin (2-2-0) made two saves for the shutout, as CSUF outshot UTRGV 16-to-5, including 8-to-2 on goal.
Freshman
Jaakko Hietikko attempted a team-high two shots, including one on goal.
UTRGV is back in action Monday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. when it visits Fort Wayne.
