EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's soccer team (2-3-1) closes out non-conference play against Our Lady of the Lake University (3-2-0) on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
There will be a free National Family Health and Fitness Day from 5-to-7 p.m.
Edinburg-resident Abel Gonzalez, who was one of just 18 participants to reach Stage Two of the Finals on NBC's American Ninja Warrior, will be running a kid-friendly obstacle course that mimics those at his holistic Wellness Center, AXIOS Warrior Academy.
There will be giant bubble soccer on the field, courtesy of Plaza Sports, as well as a family fun run/walk from 5-to-5:45 p.m.
University Recreation will host a series of outdoor games and challenges such as giant ladder golf, spikeball, slackline and cornhole.
Other components of the event include a boxing demo by 9Round Fitness, and health information provided by Neighbors Emergency Center.
The first 200 fans to complete four stations at the event will receive a free UTRGV water bottle.
One lucky fan will win a free FitBit wristband, a $130 value. The wristband counts steps and monitors calorie burn, heart rate, and work out intensity. Entries will be accepted at the entrance until 7:30. The winner will be announced at halftime.
Fans who arrive before 6:30 to participate will receive free admission to the soccer match.
