SAN ANTONIO – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's soccer team played the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) to a 0-0 double overtime tie on Sunday at Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium.
 
UTRGV (3-1-1) junior Harlingen South alum Erica Gonzalez (1-1-1) recorded her first shutout of the season and sixth of her career by making one save.
 
UIW (0-3-1) goalkeeper Sydney Huntsinger (0-3-1) made eight saves, as UTRGV outshot UIW 28-to-10, including 8-to-1 on goal.
 
Junior Andreya Barrera led UTRGV with eight shots, including three on goal. Sophomore Diandra Aliaga attempted five shots, including three on goal.
 
UTRGV returns home on Friday at 7 p.m. when it hosts St. Thomas as the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex. Gates open at 6.
