EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's soccer team fell 1-0 to San Jose State University on Senior Day on Sunday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
UTRGV (5-6-3, 2-4-2 WAC) out shot San Jose State (5-9-1, 3-3-1 WAC) 10 to nine with both teams putting three shots on goal.
San Jose State got the lone goal of the match at 71:57 as Andrew Mendoza slide into the box and kicked the pass from Nicolas Brenes past UTRGV goalie
Andy Rios (4-5-1).
Rios finished the match with two saves as San Jose State's David Heredia (3-3-1) finished with three saves.
UTRGV will hit the road for their final two matches of the regular season as they head to Houston to face Houston Baptist on October 26 and then head to San Antonio to face Incarnate Word on November 4.
