SAN ANTONIO – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley women's tennis team dropped their lone match of the weekend to the University of Texas at San Antonio 0-7 on Sunday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
 
UTSA (3-1) jumped out to the early lead after taking two of the three doubles matches to clinch the point. UTRGV's (1-7) team of Marine Darzyan and Chloe Leclere was battling with Denisa Ibrahimovic and Sonia Madronal Medina before their match went unfinished with a score of 4-5.
 
UTSA then won on singles courts six, one and five to clinch the win but that didn't stop freshman Anastasia Belyaeva and sophomore Dominique Ibarra from competing hard in their matches.
 
Ibarra dropped her first set 4-6 to Laura Cabrera on court four. She answered back with a 6-1 win in the second to force a tiebreaker before falling 5-10 to Cabrera. Belyaeva also dropped her first set 4-6 to Lina Hallgren on court three and then forced a tiebreaker with a 6-4 win in the second as she fell 3-10 to close out the match.
 
UTRGV will be back in action on February 19 when they travel to Kingsville to face the Texas A&M-Kingsville at 1 p.m. at the Javelina Tennis Courts.
