SAN MARCOS – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's soccer team went 4-1-1 against host Texas State, Houston Baptist, UTSA, Sam Houston State, Incarnate Word and Prairie View A&M during an 8v8 Tournament on Saturday.
UTRGV split into two teams during the tournament, giving each of the players a lot of playing time. Each match lasted 45 minutes.
Despite cold and wet conditions, UTRGV not only gained valuable experience with each other, but against opponents it will see this fall, including Houston Baptist, Sam Houston State, Incarnate Word and Prairie View A&M.
UTRGV was scheduled to visit St. Edward's for a friendly on Sunday, but the match was rained out.
UTRGV is back in action on April 8 at 1 p.m. when it visits Texas A&M International.
