EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley baseball team fell to the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) 5-4 in 10 innings on Saturday at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.
Down 4-3 entering the seventh, UTRGV (25-25, 6-14 WAC) tied the game on a single by junior
Ivan Estrella.
Graduate student
Connor Grant (6-7) pitched well in relief, striking out three in four innings, but in the 10
th, UNC (18-27, 7-13 WAC) put runners at second and third with one out to setup an RBI-groundout by pinch-hitter
Matt Burkart.
That made a winner of
Jacob Howard (4-0), who pitched three scoreless innings of relief.
UTRGV scored the remainder of its runs in the third on a three-run home run by junior
Austin Siener, his sixth of the year, to tie the game at 3.

Joseph Collazo all finished 2-for-5.
UNC took a 3-0 lead in the third on a fielder's choice by
Alex Kiel and a two-run double by
Brett Minnick.
Evan Johnson added an RBI-single in the fifth to put UNC up 4-3.
UTRGV and Northern Colorado complete this three-game series on Sunday at 12 p.m. at UTRGV Baseball Stadium in a game will be televised throughout Texas on Spectrum Sports channel 323.
