SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley baseball team fell to Sacramento State 13-6 on Friday at John Smith Field.
UTRGV (26-27, 7-16 WAC) can still clinch a spot in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament with a win in the series finale and a Utah Valley win at Seattle U (8-15 WAC). Both games start at 2 p.m. on Saturday. UTRGV holds the tiebreaker over Seattle U by virtue of winning the season series 2-1.

Jose Garcia hit an RBI-single, Gomez stole home as part of a double-steal, and Estrella came up with an RBI-groundout to bring UTRGV within 10-6.
Sacramento State got one of those runs back in the sixth on a
Kody Reynolds home run to make it 11-6.
