EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's soccer team fell to St. Edward's, the No. 9 ranked team in Division II, 2-0 in an exhibition match on Sunday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
 
Ruben Gonzalez scored the game-winner in the 34^th minute when he put home the rebound of his initial shot.
 
Then in the 64^th minute Grant Mobley scored off his own rebound to complete the scoring.
 
Sophomore Andy Rios made one save in 45 minutes before sophomore Esa Aalto made six saves in the second half.
 
St. Edward's goalkeeper William Tuffin made two saves for the shutout.
 
St. Edward's outshot UTRGV 18-5, including 10-2 on net.
 
UTRGV opens the regular season on Friday at 5 p.m. against Bradley at the Houston Baptist Invitational.
