Men's Soccer Has Win Streak Snapped With Loss at Seattle U

SEATTLE, Wash. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's soccer team saw its five-match win streak snapped after a 2-1 loss at the hands of Seattle University on Friday at Championship Field.
 
UTRGV (11-5-0, 6-3-0 WAC), who has already clinched a spot in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament, remains tied for second in the WAC standings after Utah Valley lost to Grand Canyon on Friday.
 
UTRGV got off to a quick start as junior Kyle Edwards made it 1-0 with his 10thgoal of the season at the 5:39. Edwards' 10thgoal is the third most goals in a single season in Division I program history. 
 
Less than five minutes later, Seattle U (11-4-0, 5-4-0 WAC) answered as Hal Uderitztied it at 1-1 with his third goal of the season at the 10:07 mark.
 
Both teams took the tie into halftime as junior Andy Rios (8-4)made two of his five saves in the first half.
 
In the second half, Seattle U got what turned out to be the game-winner from Noe Meza at the 66:29 mark off of a free kick.
 
UTRGV put the pressure on Seattle U in the final minute with a shot on goal, a corner kick and a header but Seattle U goalie Josh Adachi(11-6) made the 2-1 lead hold up.

UTRGV was outshot 17 to 7 and 7 to 5 on goal. 
 
UTRGV will continue its road trip on Sunday when it faces San Jose State University at 3 p.m.
