DENVER, Colo. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's basketball team learned on Wednesday that senior forward Terry Winn III is part of the Preseason All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Coaches and Media Second Teams.
 
Additionally, UTRGV was picked to finish sixth in both the coaches and media polls.
 
Last season, Winn averaged 9.6 points and 6.8 rebounds in 19 games (17 starts), including 9.8 points and 7.2 rebounds in WAC play. He led UTRGV in scoring twice, rebounding 12 times and assists once. Winn reached double-figures in scoring nine times and rebounding four times en route to two double-doubles.
 
UTRGV was picked to finish ahead of Kansas City, California Baptist and Chicago State in both polls, finishing with 28 points in the coaches poll and 89 points in the media poll.
 
New Mexico State was picked to repeat as WAC Champions, while Grand Canyon was picked second and CSU Bakersfield was picked fifth. The coaches picked Seattle U to finish third and Utah Valley fourth, while the media selected Utah Valley third and Seattle U fourth.
 
UTRGV opens the season on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. against Texas A&M-Commerce at the UTRGV Fieldhouse before hosting Oklahoma on Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Bert Ogden Arena.
